Clive Gregson & Christine Collister - A Change In The Weather

Gregson and Collister successfully raised their ambitions and widened their stylistic reach on A Change In The Weather, an even better collection of songs and settings
- Joining their voices in more intricate harmonies and testing out more complex material, the duo soars through poignant essays on wife abuse ('This Is The Deal'), mortality ('How Weak I Am'), the hollowness of pop stars and culture ('Jumped Up Madam' and the CD-bonus 'Temporary Sincerity') and overdriven children ('Talent Will Out')
- On a lighter note, Gregson reveals an abiding enthusiasm for Elvis Presley with the witty and personal '(Don't Step In) My Blue Suede Shoes', to which Collister adds a rocking rendition of the King's own 'Tryin' To Get To You'

Atlanta Rhythm Section - Dog Days/Red Tape

Recorded in 1975 and 1976 respectively, and originally released on the Polydor record label
- 'Dog Days' was the band's first true masterpiece - an album that still stands as one of their best. The band were beginning to display a growing array of musical styles and approaches very different to where the rest of 'Southern Rock' was headed
- 'Red Tape' - another early classic and a much in demand title from fans and public alike - features a harder rock approach with predominantly shorter pop-length songs
- From AMG review: "When they released 'Red Tape' in 1976, the Atlanta Rhythm Section were at the brink of success. They achieved it the following year, when 'A Rock and Roll Alternative' nearly broke into the Top Ten, but they truly found their winning sound here. The blend of soul, blues, country and rock is melodic and appealing - maybe not as complex as the Allman Brothers, but rivalling the Marshall Tucker Band in terms of songwriting and sound. An impressive effort from a band beginning to find its feet."

Both albums were originally released in 1970 on Probe (UK) and ABC/Dunhill Records (in the USA). Three Dog Night scored a succession of 21 hit singles, including eleven Top Tens, and twelve consecutive gold albums from 1969 to 1975
- 'It Ain't Easy' contains the massive worldwide hit 'Mama Told Me Not To Come' by Randy Newman, plus a version of Elton John's hit 'Your Song'

Run C&W is a novelty country project, but it has nothing to do with the rap group its name comes from; instead, group members Crashen Burns, Wash Burns, Side Burns and Rug Burns transform vintage soul classics into bluegrass-style twang
- The Burns Brothers are of course fictional creations; the group is actually composed of ex-Eagle Bernie Leadon on banjo, ex-Amazing Rhythm Ace Russell Smith on lead vocals, and Nashville songwriting pros Vince Melamed and Jim Photoglo on various instruments
- The group debuted for MCA in 1993 with 'Into The Twangy-First Century', concentrating mostly on humorous rearrangements but also offering the occasional parody, original song and jokey lyrical aside. 'Row vs. Wade' followed in 1995, after which the group went their separate ways
